Voter Service

On November 8, Amy Ipp and Laurie Beacham from the NJ Institute for Social Justice and fellow Livingston residents delivered the People's Lame Duck Agenda to Senator Dick Codey's office. The agenda prioritizes racial and social justice and includes bills that have stalled for far too long. You can see the complete list on the NJ League website, lwvnj.org.100 volunteers delivered the agenda to every legislator in the state.

During the month of October, The NJ League of Women Voters held a postcard campaign to lobby for same-day voter registration Same-day voter registration will allow voters to register at polling places during early voting and on election days. Registrants must provide identification and residency information and can cast a provisional ballot while their information is verified prior to their ballot being counted. The Livingston League placed 3rd in the state for collecting 100 signed postcards that will be delivered to our Senate President Nick Scutari. We won a monetary prize for this effort.

Reparations

Last Spring our League voted to study the issue of Reparations. Amy is serving on this committee and will keep us informed as the study progresses and official recommendations are made to the NJ State League.
